The Seattle Center hosted the city's 40th annual Naturalization Ceremony on July 4, where more than 500 candidates were sworn in as new citizens of the United States. "This is an outstanding day for our country. We just welcomed some people to our family and I am happy about that," Mayor Bruce Harrell said. The ceremony also featured live renditions of the national anthem and "America the Beautiful," and concluded with the new citizens reciting the Pledge of Allegiance for the first time as U.S. citizens.
